Nicosia, March 8th 2011 – The Coca-Cola Company celebrates its 125th Anniversary this year and launches a comprehensive range of special initiatives throughout the world, dedicated to this extraordinary occasion, by bringing to life the brand’s history and inviting consumers and employees to Open 125 years of Happiness.

The 125th Anniversary celebration will be a journey along 125 years of Happiness Moments, through which the unique heritage of Coca-Cola will come to life, and accompany the brand’s friends back to the 8th of May 1886; the day when Mr. Pemberton’s invention came to life.

The birth of Coca-Cola, on May 8th 1886, marked a day in modern history: it was the day when Mr John Stith Pemberton, a pharmacist based in Atlanta, USA, mixed for the first time a jug of Coca-Cola syrup with carbonated water and sold it for five cents. Refreshment has never been the same again since that day, when the first glass of Coca-Cola was served at Jacob's Pharmacy in Atlanta.

Coca-Cola today, is the most popular and biggest-selling soft drink in history, a refreshing drink that has never contained preservatives or artificial flavours.

"After refreshing the world for 125 years, Coca-Cola is now proud to launch the 125th Anniversary Year, celebrating our consumers and their love for Coca-Cola – because they are the real owners of the Coca-Cola brand.” said Kalia Patsia, Public Affairs and Communications Manager. “We want to be a real inspiration of happiness for the world we live in, that’s why the 125th Anniversary celebrations that will last throughout 2011 will be focused on bringing to life our heritage of happiness and optimism. A unique standpoint to take advantage of this occasion to remind ourselves of the crucial role that we all play in making the world a better place, to build together further 125 and more years of happiness!".
